DHL Cargo Plane Crash in Lithuania: Details Emerge
25th Nov 2024
A Swift Air Boeing 737 operating for DHL crashed near Vilnius Airport, Lithuania, on November 25, 2024. The aircraft was approaching the airport when it failed to land safely, colliding with a house. Tragically, one crew member died, and three others sustained injuries. The injured crew members were Spanish, German, and Lithuanian citizens.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported among residents. Footage from a nearby security camera shows the plane descending, before dipping out of view behind a building. Moments later, a large fireball can be seen in the sky rising from behind the building, followed by a plume of black smoke. Authorities have launched an investigation into the crash to determine its cause.
The incident highlights ongoing challenges in aviation safety, with further updates expected as the investigation progresses. The crash follows reports of mysterious explosions at DHL warehouses in Leipzig and Birmingham, which have raised concerns about possible Russian sabotage. However, there is currently no evidence to suggest that the crash was related to these incidents.
The Boeing 737 was 31 years old, which is considered by experts to be an older airframe but is not unusual for cargo flights.
